Every Child: Thoughts on Children’s Day – A Poem (E)

Every child must feel loved, safe and secure
Every child must feel wanted, admired, and warmth
Every child must feel welcome and special

Every child deserves peace,
Harmony, and belonging
Every child deserves friends,
play, and dreams
Every child deserves a future

Every child must get food in the tummy, health services, and an education
Every child must get support and guidance

Every child must feel
They have people they can trust,
Every child must feel
Loved even when they
Aren’t their best
When they have goofed up

Every child deserves
Acceptance, unconditional love
The chance to improve
To better themselves
To grow, to blossom
In spite of everything and
Along with whatever
They have, whatever they bring
Into this world
What they can do
What they can’t
What they are able to do and
What they aren’t
Every child deserves joy
The happiness of childhood
Protected from strife
Politics, war and the hazards
Of the cyber world
Protected in mind and body
Child safe, mind safe
Body safe everywhere.

Every child must be protected from anger and rage
Every child must be protected
From bullying and shame
From judgement and discouragement
From rejection and fear
Because adults have failed
To supervise or they need help
Themselves with their emotions and behavior

Every child must have guidance
So they learn right from wrong
Support so they learn to think for themselves
Encouragement so they
Learn from their experience
Exposure so they learn values and behaviour-
Compassion, tolerance, inclusion and forgiveness
Modelled by adults at home and in school
Nurturing so they develop a sense of responsibility
Preparing them to be future ready
At the level of their development one bit at a time.

Every child must feel hope
At home, in school, and in this
Wide wide world

Every child deserves to he happy!

Every child is a future
Our future: They will give us
What we teach
We can’t sow sunflower seeds
To grow apples instead!

Excellent poem. Mahi has pointed out the roots of some mental disorders-child abuse.
This poem deserves to be widely circulated, and taught/ learnt
